Clinical Significance:
Glypican-3 is an oncofetal protein that is expressed in fetal liver and trophoblast. Increased expression in a hepatic tumor may favor a hepatocellular carcinoma, and positive expression may be seen in germ cell tumors, particularly yolk sac tumor and choriocarcinoma.
