- Clinical Significance:
- CD45 (leukocyte common antigen) is a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on most nucleated cells of hematopoietic origin, except megakaryocytes and plasma cells. Although present in most lymphomas, Reed-Sternberg cells in classic Hodgkin lymphoma are negative. The antibody is a useful aid for classification of neoplasms as being hematolymphoid in origin.
