- Clinical Significance:
- Mammaglobin, a 93-amino acid glycoprotein, is encoded by a gene first identified in a study directed at the isolation of novel human breast cancer-associated genes. Mammaglobin expression is mostly, although not exclusively, confined to breast tissue, and anti-mammoglobin is a useful aid for the classification of carcinomas of breast origin.
