- Clinical Significance:
- Inhibin is a dimeric glycoprotein hormone comprised of an α and a β subunit. It is produced by ovarian granulosa cells and inhibits the production or secretion of pituitary gonadotropins, particularly follicle-stimulating hormone. The antibody was raised against the terminal 1-32 amino acid sequence of the inhibin α subunit. The antibody is a useful aid for classification of sex-cord-stromal and adrenocortical tumors.
