- Clinical Significance:
- The CD57 glycoprotein, also known as HNK-1, is a glycoprotein involved with cell adhesion. It is found on a subset of mononuclear cells with natural killer activity and on neuroectodermal cells expressing myelin-associated glycoprotein. The marker is associated with NK cells, some hematopoietic tumors, and neuroendocrine tumors, and may help distinguish HGPIN from high grade urothelial carcinoma.
