Clinical Significance:
The CD43 antigen is expressed on the membrane and in the cytoplasm of T cells and cells of myeloid lineage. Cells expressing the CD43 antigen are reported to include normal and neoplastic T cells. It is positive in some B cell leukemia/lymphomas, such as ALL, Burkitt's lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma, some marginal zone lymphomas, and some SLL/CLL.
